Tips to improve your mental health due to the effects of Covid-19

Mental health is a big part of looking after ourselves. A lot of people are struggling with the effects that Covid-19 is having on all aspects of our lives and of the people we care about.

At Lemonade Reward, we’ve compiled a list of tips and links that may be useful if you feel that you need some extra support. 

Being compassionate, open and honest is important in everyday life, especially right now. Listen, vent, talk or arrange a house party call for a quiz or simply for a catch up and a refreshing beverage.

This is not only a great way of helping yourself and others during these turbulent times, it’s also good way of thinking when creating communications to engage your people in a work environment.

Tips for working from home

  • Keep to your original routine if you can and if not, try and set a revised routine. Have a dedicated work area and put things away when you finish. 

  • Maintain contact with your colleagues, and not just virtual work meetings, do something fun like quizzes, one to ones and chats as well.

  • Try to take breaks and exercise at least once a day.

Tips for dealing with isolation

  • Do things for other people such as shopping for an elderly or self-isolating neighbour or calling an isolated family member.

  • Doing things which build up self-worth work wonders for your wellbeing.

  • Ask for help from your manager, a trusted colleague, family member or friend if you are struggling. Even talking it out may help.

  • If things are worrying you, running round your head and stopping you sleeping, try and write them down to clear your mind. You can then tackle the list when you are more refreshed.

  • Use video calling like Zoom, House Party or Microsoft Teams. Sometimes it helps to have that extra interaction of seeing the person you are talking to.

  • Don’t feel that you have to do ‘something’. This is the one time in our lives we’re being told to do ‘nothing’ so enjoy a bit of ‘me’ time as well.
